Graduating with a First Class degree in Marketing Management from Manchester Metropolitan University, Jay has built over six years of experience delivering marketing strategies across a wide range of sectors. I’ve always enjoyed spending time outside and with my horses, so when the time came to choose a university course, studying a BSc in Equine Science was an easy decision. Alongside my degree, I spent several years working on an equine rehabilitation yard, helping horses recover from injury and/or surgery. It was a role I really enjoyed, and it taught me a lot.
After university, I stepped into equestrian retail, where I worked my way up to Store Manager of a busy retail store. Whilst there, the store was acquired by a much larger company which gave me the chance to get involved in projects across the wider business and see how different teams and departments all worked together to help the business grow.
After several years in retail, I then moved into an Area Sales Manager role with an equine nutrition company, spending my time building relationships with horse owners and retailers and helping retailers to achieve their sales goals. This is what sparked my interest in business development.
What I enjoy most about being Business Development Manager at Hillsgreen is getting to know people, understanding their challenges and helping them to find solutions through digital marketing. No two businesses are the same which means that no two days are the same for me.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me with my horses or dogs, out enjoying the countryside, or spending time with friends.
